Firefighters converged on Shelburne Community School last Saturday but any smoke was coming from the grill and griddle. Members of the Shelburne Fire Department served up pancakes, sausage and lots of maple syrup for their annual community pancake breakfast fundraiser. Fire Chief Jerry Ouimet estimated that about 260 people -- including many hungry youth soccer players -- came through the line. The event raised about $1,900 for the firefighter's association and it will be put toward the purchase of non-essential but helpful safety equipment such as door chocks and infrared cameras, Ouimet said.
