The Winooski News announces new Community Liaison
By Jacqualine Posley
The Winooski News as it exists now is a project that pairs student reporters from The Community News Service with professional editors to provide community-scale content at no cost.
However, that vision is slowly morphing into an effort to form a stand-alone, independent community news source for Winooski.
Thanks to assistance from Project 14, a statewide initiative to strengthen the civic ties in all 14 counties of Vermont, Winooski residents will soon have a single source to tell their stories, share in the experiences of others, and remain involved in the latest community events.
The University of Vermont, Project 14, and Winooski News are joining forces to create a long-standing community newspaper that speaks to the people and through the people. To assist with this process, Jacqueline Posley has been contracted as a Community News Liaison.
Originally from Mississippi, Jacqueline moved to Vermont through the Stay to Stay Program in 2018. She is a full-time Contracted Paralegal, but fuels her passion for philanthropy through work on community non-profit boards, youth mentoring, and volunteerism.
“My passion for news was inspired by my mother’s training and career as a journalist. I have hopes that this opportunity will fuse both my passions for philanthropy and the integrity of news.” said Posley.
The most important part of this effort is ensuring the residents of Winooski have a local news source that accurately and honestly reports the stories of the community.
