Birding in the Champlain Islands
Vermont's Champlain Islands are teeming with winged wildlife. Waterfowl, shorebirds, and other rare species create a unique spectacle for those with the eyes, ears, and cameras to capture them. As the COVID-19 pandemic kept people home, capturing that natural beauty — otherwise known as birding — exploded in popularity.
Birding is a celebrated Vermont tradition and one of the most accessible ways to interact with the state’s rich wildlife. Anyone can purchase a field guide, head out to the wilderness and explore bird habitats with the multiple active birding groups in the state.
Especially in the Islands, the environments that anyone can explore — whether it be in Grand Isle or Alburgh State Park, or a backyard — can lead to unforgettable experiences.
In this podcast, hear birding experts and enthusiasts talk about the birding paradise of the Champlain Islands.
